Summer Time Blues!

I was watching the news recently and found out that the “Dog Days Of Summer” last until the 11th of August. That means that we are darn close to being done with the heat! How awesome is that! School starts here in less than 3 weeks and as with most moms, I can’t wait. Not because I don’t enjoy having my kids around, but because they are lifeless lumps of humanity during the days. I try to get them to do something—they are actually kicked out of the house in the morning for a bike ride, but these days just don’t seem to be like when we were kids. Maybe it’s all of the “indoor” activities. But my husband and I were talking the other day, and honestly, we don’t remember coming in the house during the summer until it was dinner time. Whether we were exploring ditches and ravines–or just paling around with our friends. After dinner it was a game of Kick the Can, Hide and Seek or Sardines. All good fun kid games! Those were good times, and I wish I could find a way to get my kids excited about getting the neighborhood out for some fun!
