Sweet Tomato–Hoffman Estates!!
By The Chef | February 16, 2008
Monday night we took a quick trip into the Chef’s restaurant to pick up his paycheck. He’s currently enjoying a week off of work–but you can’t miss that event! On the way home we decided to take the kids to their favorite restaurant. Do any of you dare to take a gander?? It’s surprising to me, but all four kids of mine love salad, so we headed to the Sweet Tomatoes over by the Woodfield Mall.

It was great from the moment we walked in. It was a Monday night, so there were no lines and with me helping myself and two kids to salad fixings as we walk the buffet, that took a lot of stress off of me. The nice thing about most buffet places, this one included, is that they charge for kids by their age. With a three and a five year old who don’t eat much, I do appreciate that.
You walk through the salad buffet and to your table. Then you hit ‘the other’ buffet. Drinks, soups, pizza, muffins and pasta dishes are along the back buffet. My littlest was thrilled to find a big bowl of nothing but grapes and oranges, while the eight year old grossed out his dad with a big bowl of Tapioca pudding.
Because it wasn’t busy there wasn’t the normal fear of the kids getting out of hand. They are always really good at buffets, but with a three year old you never know. All did great and enjoyed the ice cream bar for dessert. The manager even came around passing out hot chocolate chip cookies.
Honestly–I highly recommend Sweet Tomatoes!!
