Wonder Mold Doll Cake!!
By The Chef | December 9, 2007

Yes, I’ve put this on a few blogs–but since this is the cooking blog–I kinda felt like it needed to be here.
This was a project that I have been intimidated by for over 2 years. I bought it for Blake’s third birthday, and finally made it for her 5th. I took a trial run at it last week with blue.

It was really pretty–especially considering it was my first time ever, but this one really just kicks the blue one out of the running.
I love working with fondant. I love painting it with food coloring when it’s all finished–I love decorating it with frosting–because if you make a mistake you just scrape it right off, and do it again. I do NOT, however, enjoy the flavor of fondant.
I was watching Bronwen Weber from many Food Network Challenges the other day on Wedding Cental, and she made this AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS 6 tier wedding cake that I would have died to not only have at my wedding, but to be able to make. But I certainly wouldn’t want to have to eat it!

Those are the absolute most beautiful Barbie cakes I’ve ever seen! I don’t think I would have the heart to cut into them to eat them and I’m sure they’re as delicious as they look! You have quite a talent.

You are so sweet! I was AMAZED at how easy this was to create. I’ve been scared of it for over 2 years–and I finally started it with a test run–it’s just like playing with playdoh. Roll it out–cut it with scissors–nothing easier. But I was surprised at just how pretty it turned out. I don’t like the taste of fondant–so we served cupcakes at the party. Thanks for stopping by here–and the post about Wasatch–he’s quite the character! More later!
